Growing up, entrepreneurship was never mentioned or encouraged in my house. What was encouraged was getting good grades, getting into a decent school and getting that steady, secure job once you graduated. Interestingly enough, my uncle on my mom’s side was an entrepreneur. He opened up his own pharmacy. Many of his children ended up becoming very successful entrepreneurs, running multiple businesses back in the old country.
Time and time again I have read so many stories on the internet about fellow bloggers deciding to take the leap and people quitting their day jobs to run their own business that are related to their passion. I have read about the constant failures, constant starting over again, the heartache and the hardship that people endure to make their vision become a reality.
And you know what?
As crazy as it seems, I think I want that. I want my vision of becoming a well-known blog coach and consultant to become a reality. I want people to realize that they can utilize a blog as a business or use it as a powerful tool to help build a business. I want to help people get over that fear of starting a blog and getting their thoughts out into the world. This is coming from someone who always played by the rules and never took a business related course in her entire life. I was someone who was well on her way to working 25-30 years for the government and collecting that golden pension that is so rare nowadays.
But life is full of surprises-along with twists and turns. Right now, I’m kind of going through everything mentioned in the previous paragraph, but except on a smaller scale as I try to build my business on the side. I don’t understand why some people give the impression that it’s so easy and straightforward. No two businesses, even if they are advertising the same product or service are the same.
Today I’m guest posting over at kristarae.co and talk about the many, many things you need to take into consideration when you make that life-changing decision to go work for yourself.
