As it gets closer to the wedding, I am getting asked more and more you know what:
How’s the wedding planning going?
My usual response is that’s fine and that we’ve got this, this and this done. How come nobody ever asks how are you and your partner managing finances? I know a lot of people may consider it to be personal, but I think it’s important that couples share this insight with other couples and single people as well.
What I’d really like to chat about is how important it is to talk to your significant other about big financial commitments like this and make sure both of you guys are on the same page. Nowadays, there is no particular order as to when you approach big financial commitments such as owning a home together, getting married or having children.
Let’s be open and honest about our finances.
Come join me for a twitter chat called : #MarriageXMeridian hosted by @MeridianCU on Wednesday, June 24th at 11:30 am. Share how you communicate with your spouse about finances. What are some tips on how to keep a healthy financial relationship?
Meridian will be offering a prize to the user who is the most engaged (Ontario, Canada only). Engaged. Get it? Haha. Not sure if a pun was intended there. 🙂 What do you win? A honeymoon swag bag worth $100! WOOHOO! Yay for being social on social media!
