Kick off International Women’s Day with a Women’s Leadership Gala and Conference
On Monday March 8th, we celebrate International Women’s Day. Women’s Festival Toronto, a non-profit organization is hosting a gala and conference on Friday March 4th, 2016 and Saturday March 5th, 2016 respectively to honour the day.
I am really looking forward to hearing Melissa Sariffodeen speak on the Women Who Tech Panel. Melissa is the Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of Ladies Learning Code. I have taken several workshops with the organization and enjoyed every one of them. As a woman who just recently took on a tech-related role, I am interested in learning about the great things women are doing in the tech industry.
Whether we like it or not, we are greatly influenced by those who are in our close circles. Our environment plays a huge role on the way we think, how we feel and the decisions we make.
It was only six months ago that I decided that to change my unfulfilling work environment. It was somewhat negative and not inspiring at all. Since then, I have not looked back and only choose to surround myself with people who want to be inspired, who want to challenge themselves and want to be part of a positive environment. It has made such a huge difference in my life and I have absolutely no regrets.
This leadership conference provides a unique opportunity for women to become educated and inspired by a wide range of women who have accomplished amazing things and continue to accomplish amazing things.
The Gala will feature a keynote address by Honourary Chair Sophie Trudeau. You will also have the opportunity to hear World Renowned Journalist Katie Couric as a guest speaker. The conference is a full-day event filled with workshops on topics such as technology, indigenous women and personal branding. This is the opportunity to learn something new, be inspired, become more aware and meet other like-minded women all in one place.
Hope to see you there and celebrate with you!
