Hi readers!
I’ve been back for over a week and have slowly been sorting through emails and getting back to my regular routine. My work hours have changed and am now my days have become longer. Good in a sense that I’m getting more overtime pay, but bad in the sense that I’m coming home at a later time and feeling more tired- which also means less time to do blog stuff.
I hope to have a few posts up starting end of this week about my travels in Greece. For now, check out this infographic from vouchercloud.net:
There are many everyday commodities that we all take for granted like buying milk or even a BigMac from McDonalds. But the question remains, how have the prices for these items changed over the last ten years and how has inflation influenced this? Here at vouchercloud.net we are keen to help people stretch their dollars so we have produced a detailed study in the form of an infographic looking at the changing prices of elements of US life. These include the cost of filling your car with gas, the cost of public transport and the average wage across the States.
The infographic also features relevant facts and statistics for each category, including how much tailgaters spend a season on food and supplies for NFL tailgate parties (you won’t believe it!) and the number of US states that already have minimum wages higher than the federal $7.25 an hour rate.
The results are taken from 2003 to 2013 and also take into account the changing rates of inflation and the infographic has revealed many interesting insights. We expected the lowest prices to be in 2003 but some elements, such as the price of buying a car bucked the trend. With the price adjusted for inflation a new car would cost you $26,174 in 2006 compared to $26,801 back in 2003. There were similar results for the price of a gallon of milk, which was $3.38 in 2009 and you would have paid $3.73 in 2003 after the prices were adjusted for inflation.
These findings should throw up some interesting debate and insight into the cost of living in the US.
